Editing Day 5

On the fifth day, we started to add in sound clips into Harriet's parts to increase the tension. We found the clips on YouTube and inserted them into where we wanted the specific sounds. This was difficult in some places as the clips were quite long and we only wanted a small part so finding the part we wanted took a while. We also needed to find the right sound effect which was tricky as we needed them to fit with our film and not sound out of place.

Editing Day 4

On the fourth day, we had filmed the final scene and so could add it into the film. This meant we could finish cutting the whole film together to make it look neat and flow well. We also added in our title at the end to see what it will look like when we were finished.

Editing Day 3

On the third day of editing, we decided that, as we had some speakers, we could start to edit the parts of the film with sound in it. This was mainly Alex's parts as we needed to be able to hear what they were saying before we could cut anything together to make sure we didn't cut over any speech.

Editing Day 2

On the second day, we started to edit together the first couple of clips to make it flow better than before. This included cutting the ends of clips together to achieve accurate match cutting and to make it look more professional than it did on the first day. We only managed to do a little bit of cutting together of the first couple of clips as we wanted to make it look as good as we could without rushing the editing.

Editing Day 1

On the first day of editing, we chose which clips we wanted to include and in which order we wanted to present them in. It took a while to get to grips with the software and with how we wanted to put the clips in. We also hadn't finished filming, which made it a bit more difficult to edit how we wanted the film to flow. We worked quite well in achieving how we wanted the film to open and the rough idea of what the opening two minutes will be about.

Filming Day 4

On the 12th January 2017, we filmed the final scene in our opening two minutes, of Harriet in the toilets. We were both able to film this time, meaning it was easier to achieve the exact shots we wanted to finish the film. We filmed shots we were unsure about but actually work well in our film. We had an idea of how we wanted to finish the film and how to increase the tension at the end and we feel we were able to achieve this with the shots, angles and makeup.

Filming Day 3

Our third filming day was on the 15th December 2016. I was, again, unable to be there to film with Libby, but she made sure to film lots so that we could decide on different things later in the process. Libby also had the agreed storyboard, meaning she could film the shots we agreed on. During this day she filmed the part with Alex where he calls Harriet but she doesn't answer. Libby made sure to include some other people in the scene to make it look sociable. The range of shots taken helped us to put together a scene that we are both happy with.

Filming Day 2

On the 7th December, we began filming the second day. Unfortunately, Libby was the only one to film during this day as I was unable to be there due to lessons. In this section, they filmed the shots of Harriet walking outside and the first part of the toilet scene. She didn't have time to film the whole of the toilet scene, but also didn't have the makeup for Harriet, which is why we decided to film the rest of it at a later date. Libby, again, made sure we had lots of footage by shooting multiple shots of one part and filming certain shots lots of times. This was good as it made it easier to decide on what we both thought would be best after filming.

Filming Day 1

To document our filming days, we got a friend to take photos of us during the day. The photos above are from our first filming day. We began on the 5th December 2016 by filming the very first scene of Harriet in the IT room. This was the very first shot so we wanted it to be perfect ready for editing. To make sure we had enough shots to work with during editing, we tried different angles and shot types to see what would work best with our vision for the opening scene. We also shot certain shots more than once to give us more variety. We wanted the first scene to be tense and filled with suspense for the audience. The storyboard we made helped us achieve the vision we wanted for the scene.

Filming Schedule

Since we had to use different free periods to film our opening two minutes, we decided to create a schedule so that we knew who was filming, who we were filming and when etc. We also needed to co-ordinate it with the actors and other people involved. Sometimes this went a bit wrong as occasionally someone would forget something or someone wasn't in on that particular day or only one of us could film, but we managed to work around it. Below is our brief filming schedule of the days so far.

MONDAY 5TH DECEMBER P2 (9:45-10:45) - BOTH - FILMING SCENE 1 (HARRIET AND SAMMIE)

WEDNESDAY 7TH DECEMBER P2 (9:45-10:45) - LIBBY - FILMING SCENE 3 (HARRIET AND SAMMIE)

THURSDAY 15TH DECEMBER P4 (12:10-13:10) - LIBBY - FILMING SCENE 2 (ALEX AND OTHERS)

FRIDAY 13TH JANUARY PM TUTOR (1:15-1:30) - BOTH - FILMING SCENE 4 (HARRIET)

As we haven't finished filming our opening two minutes yet, we still have one day scheduled to complete in January on the 13th. This is because this is the only day we can all do that will allow for Harriet's makeup to dry to film her murder scene. This will ensure it looks as realistic as possible and that we can finish our film to a high standard instead of rushing to finish it.

Behind the Scenes: Costume

These are the costumes for the characters in our film.

Alex and Harriet's characters needed to be wearing quite normal clothing as the film is set in an everyday setting for them. For this, we let Alex and Harriet choose what felt comfortable for them to film in. We had to include a hat for Harriet because she was dying her hair after we had started to film, which would have compromised the film.

For Sammie's character, we needed her to be completely hidden so that her identity was not given away within the first two minutes. For this, we ensured she was wearing all black and that the audience couldn't see any distinctive features of her face.

We made sure to keep these costumes the same to ensure our film continuity remained throughout.
